1. Introduction
SmartBee LLC ("we", "our", or "us") operates Yedo, a live interpretation service that translates Korean sermons at Lubbock Korean Baptist Church (the "Church") into English audio and captions (the "Service"). This policy explains what information the Service handles and how.
2. Information We Handle
2.1 Listeners
You can listen without an account. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or location, and the listening page never uses your microphone. The page does not use cookies, advertising, or analytics. Your text-size preference is saved only in your own browser.
2.2 Sermon Audio and Translations
During an interpretation session, the Church's sound system sends the speaker's audio to our server, which forwards it to Google's Gemini API for real-time translation. The translated audio and captions are then delivered to listeners.
Sermon archive. Only when the Church turns on recording for a particular service, we store, on the Church's behalf, the speaker's audio, the original Korean text, the English translation, and the translated English audio, together with the time of each caption, the date of the service, and, if the Church enters them, the service name (for example, Sunday first service), sermon title, speaker, and Bible passage. These are kept in a private Google Cloud Storage bucket in the United States. We do not store any listener information. Services for which recording is not turned on are not stored.
Whether or not recording is on, the most recent captions (up to 20 lines) are kept in server memory while a session is running, so that listeners who join late can catch up; they are discarded when the session ends or the server restarts.
The Church decides how long recordings are kept and when they are deleted. You may request deletion by contacting us at hello@smartbee.work.
2.3 Technical Logs
Our hosting provider (Google Cloud Run) automatically records standard request logs, including IP address, browser type, and time of access, for operation and security. Our own logs record only the general device type (for example, iPhone or Android), without any identifier.
2.4 Church Operators
The operator page stores its access code, the selected audio devices, and the last choice of the recording switch (on by default) in the operator's browser, so the Church computer does not need to be set up again. The sermon archive is protected by a separate archive code; the operator page keeps that code only for the open browser tab unless the operator chooses to remember it on that computer.
3. Third-Party Services
- Google Gemini API — real-time speech translation. Under Google's terms for paid Gemini API services, Google does not use prompts or responses to improve its products, and logs them for a limited period solely to detect and prevent abuse and for legal or regulatory requirements.
- Google Cloud Run — hosting, in the United States.
- Google Cloud Storage — private storage, in the United States, of sermons the Church chose to record.
- Google Fonts — the pages load fonts from Google, which may receive your IP address.
These services have their own privacy policies. Please see Google's Privacy Policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
4. Information We Do Not Collect
- Names, email addresses, phone numbers, or accounts
- Location, or audio from listeners' microphones
- Cookies, advertising identifiers, or analytics data
- Recordings of listeners
5. Security
All connections are encrypted (HTTPS and secure WebSockets). Interpretation controls are protected by an access code known only to Church staff, and the sermon archive is protected by a separate archive code.
6. Children
The Service does not collect personal information from any listener, including children. Please see the Terms of Use regarding eligibility.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes take effect when posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
